In 1992 Chris Sommovigo founded the specialty audiophile cable
company ILLUMINATI Electronic Systems and Cables, Inc. He designed
and manufactured what was arguably the first true 75-Ohm digital
cable, and the very first 75-Ohm digital RCA connector.
That debut product was Illuminati's DataStream Reference. It soon
became famous for its extraordinary accuracy. Between 1992 and 1996
Chris introduced several newer and more flexible cable designs,
including the legendary "ORCHID" AES/EBU cable, the ubiquitous D-60
S/PDIF digital cable, and the cost-effective DV-75 digital and
video cable.
From 1997 to 2009, Chris had dedicated his focus to creating the
finest and most precise audio cables in the world under the
Stereovox brand. Employing high technology precision solutions
typically reserved for military, aerospace and surveillance
industries, as extreme examples of precision audio cable design and
execution.
2010 sees the introduction of the
STEREOLAB™ name,
encompassing several specialized categories of cable design.
Through this new entity, we establish individual brands for each
performance specialization in order to address the specific needs
of the dedicated audiophile and fellow truth-seeker. From the most
delicate acoustic renderings to soul-quaking symphonies... from the
coolness of Cool to sizzling Hard Bop... from The Capenters to The
Ramones to Ricky Lee Jones, Stereolab cables reveal more detail,
nuance, and pure music and have raised the bar on what it means to
truly be a "Reference" product.
Stereolab cables complete the rarest of reference audio systems,
and bridge the gap between Audio and Music.
